What The Hell Are You Wearing!!!!

Besides giving birth and having your lady parts all exposed, the gym might be the second the most mentally and physically crippling places on the planet. Physically because you might have to watch some 20 something year old Fredericks model wanna be strut around the gym wearing her size 2 workout pants, sports bra, not to mention shes carrying the obvious gaze from your husband or boyfriend. Be easy. Assault laws are still in effect. I know its taking every ounce of you not to pull her long locks out her scalp. But trust when I tell you men have these envious thoughts all the time. We're not exempt to throw the side eye to things we deem better or more attractive or just flat out want.

Now here's where it gets interesting. If I've learned anything, its that what you wear to the gym can play a major role in your psyche and overall gym experience. I've seen countless woman roll up to the gym in frumpy looking sweats and some big ass t-shirt thinking there about to get a good workout. Chances are you're about to waste your time and look terrible. Yea, its not the catwalk but have some pride. I'm a huge believer in working out in clothes that you would wear out on the street. I mean you you want to look better in your everyday clothes anyway, so why not wear something that keeps you motivated to reach you goal or  at least maintain your current shape.

When purchasing gym attire there should only be 4 factors that come into play. Purpose, comfort and look and attitude.

Purpose: Why are you in the gym in the first place? Abs class, yoga, Pilates or an hour long, boring cardio session. Pretty much any capri pant, or legging can be worn to do any of previously stated things. Seeing how they contour to your body, it makes it very easy to move and bend. Shorts are also an option but they tend to cause crotch wedgies and most look kind of wack in my opinion.

Comfort: You don't want to be known as the chick who's always pulling out her wedgie or constantly shoveling her boob back in her sports bra. Neither are attractive. What you're actually doing at the gym should be considered. For step classes, Zumba classes or just a balls out hard as hell weight training sessions with Power Elite Conditioning, I recommend anything Nike. Nike's Dri-Fit technology is specifically made to wick away sweat. The material is made up of micro fiber and polyester which pushes sweat to the surface of fabric. Less sweat on the bod will keep you cool and most definitely optimize your performance while working out.
Look: OK  here's my main point. I don't care who you are. In football we have a saying, " look good, play good". Now of course you could play like complete shit but you get my point. If you look good while working out, I guarantee you will work harder and with more passion and purpose. My yoga pant clothing pick for this is Lululemon. They are a Canadian based company but have made their way into 1000's of US closets. They don't have the wick away technology like Nike but they have a cellulite disappearing, curve popping technology that's just straight out flattering and sexy. Lululemon has some cool tops, but  I would check out Pink By Victoria's Secret. They have these colorful, bright, fun looking tank tops and crop tees that can add that extra flare you've been missing.

Attitude: Confidence, in my opinion, is the end all to be all in life. You win with confidence and you lose with enough confidence to come back and fight another gym. That mindset pays monumental dividends in the gym. Ever look in the mirror imagine that figure you've always wanted? No? Its because you're wearing that big ass t-shirt and sweats. Think of that same t-shirt as extra fat. Get rid of both and the body you want lies underneath. Just have to find that confident part of you that's willing to take on those judgmental stares while you're exercising. Those people can go to hell.

You might not be in love with your body but it is what you make it. Feeling good about what you wear will definitely give you a boost in the right direction. There's going to come a time where you'll love your body and you'll have have that ethereal feeling you've been looking for. You will be in total aww of your place in the universe, but you will be totally gratified by it. Trust me!
